How I Found My Roxie
July 24, 2018, I saw Roxie who had been rescued on Puppy Love’s Website. We had been looking for a small dog to adopt for some time. The minute I saw her picture, I knew I had to get her. I drove from Gilbert, AZ, to Cave Creek, AZ, and spent the day transporting her to the pet store and home to get her settled in.
In the picture of Roxie on the website, I saw that she had rope burns around her neck. When I went to pick her up, I noticed that she had also just had puppies. They didn’t know much about her other than she had come from Tijuana, Mexico. She was about a year and a half old.
Getting Roxie Medical Help
I had to nurse Roxie’s neck with medicine two times a day, but I didn’t realize how sick she was until about a week later. She was hot to touch, so I rushed her to the vet. She was dehydrated and had a temperature of 104. After blood, stool, and urine samples, she tested positive for tick fever and had pancreatitis. $800.00 later she was on antibiotics for 30 days and slowly started getting better. I put her on a grain free diet and made sure the doggie treats were low in fat.
Today, Roxie is a thriving puppy and full of love! Her darling personality has come full circle. She knows she is safe. She has brought a joy to my life that I never knew was possible.
